Spanish Cigarettes
by Justin Lacroix
I stumbled off the bus into a whirl of new sounds
just then a blinding cloud dropped down all around
That's when I saw these eyes that painted a world
contradicting the one my senses had shown
chorus:
Spanish cigarettes spun me in a cloud of lust
not caring where I'd wake up
Spanish cigarettes knocked me back a step
when senorita blew smoke right through my head
She had me trapped in her room, branches scratched at the window
begging for me to come out and play in the cold
I was locked in her gaze beads of sweat ran down my face
I didn't have the strength to break these chains
(chorus)
Couldn't get enough, went right back the next day
dogs were barking and grownling tryin' to keep me away
I snuck right past, couldn't do a thing to shake the craves
she was sittin there with her legs crossed waitin' to lure in her prey
bridge:
through all this smoke it became very clear to me that
I was born to love the swirls
the swirls in her dress, in her hair, in her eyes
when she twirled and she twirled and she twirled...
spanish cigarettes
