Today is a new day
please don’t let me be alone again
this could be a good day
just don’t leave me to my hands
they’re much too restless
and know just how to bend
today is a new day
as good as any to take a stand

Today is a blue day
little comfort he will find
to save his heart from decay
every plea for help declined
he never had a chance you see
those diamonds left him blind
and longing for love days
too far back for him to rewind

today could be her day
she has but one delicate petal left
wishing for a rainy day
kneading her gentle soul to rest
it won’t be much longer
and she won’t have any regrets
today could be her day
to fly away on her last breath
